Israeli prosecutors have filed an indictment against a 17-year-old from the Negev on a charge of negligent homicide after a police pursuit in Eilat ended in a fatal crash. According to the indictment, he was driving without a license in a car with fake license plates when he fled a police checkpoint and was chased by security forces.
During the chase, he allegedly drove recklessly at high speed, veered onto a dirt track, lost control and rolled the vehicle several times. A 20-year-old passenger in the car was thrown out, struck the ground and later died of his injuries at Soroka Medical Center.
The teenager was also lightly injured in the incident. Prosecutors said he is additionally charged with impersonation, obstructing a police officer, illegally transporting a passenger and driving without insurance.
