Police Arrest Palestinian Suspected of Elaborate Carjacking Scheme

Police in Modi'in Illit have arrested a Palestinian man in his 20s suspected of orchestrating a series of sophisticated car thefts and robberies targeting Israeli drivers. The suspect, a resident of the village of Qibya, was apprehended following a two-month undercover investigation.

Authorities revealed the suspect's methods, which involved elaborate scams and ambushes on Route 446. In one instance, he arranged to meet Israeli drivers under the pretense of selling car parts. Once the drivers arrived, he would exploit a moment of distraction, jump into their vehicle, and flee with it.

In a more dangerous tactic, the suspect intentionally rammed a moving vehicle on Route 446. The driver, believing it to be a minor traffic accident, pulled over to assess the damage. The suspect then robbed the driver of their car and escaped.

Following the investigation, the suspect was located, arrested, and taken for questioning at the Modi'in Illit station. He has since been detained, and the investigation into his activities is ongoing.
