Police Arrest Palestinian Man for Elaborate Car Thefts on Route 446
Israeli police have arrested a resident of the Palestinian village of Kibiya, suspected of a series of car thefts and hijackings along Route 446. Investigators believe the suspect demonstrated considerable ingenuity in his methods.
The police investigation, which spanned two months, revealed two distinct methods used by the suspect. In one instance, he arranged to meet with Israelis under the pretense of replacing car parts, only to steal the vehicle during the encounter. In another case, the suspect staged a car accident, intentionally colliding with a victim's car to force the driver to stop and exit the vehicle, after which he stole it.
The suspect, who is approximately 20 years old, has been taken into custody following interrogation. The investigation into the car thefts is ongoing.
