Respected Ashdod Educator Rabbi David Weissfish Dies Suddenly at 75

Rabbi David Weissfish, a veteran and esteemed educator in Ashdod, passed away unexpectedly overnight at the age of 75 after suffering a heart attack. For decades, he taught and educated students in the city, shaping generations. Born in 1951, Rabbi Weissfish studied at the "Grodna" yeshiva in Ashdod in his youth and later settled in the city.

For fifty years, he served as a teacher and educator at the "Cheider HaRav" Talmud Torah school. Acquaintances and former students described him as a dedicated and humble educator who devoted his life to the community and to education. One former student eulogized him, stating, "He treated every student as if he were his only son, with patience and a pleasant demeanor."

Rabbi Weissfish is survived by an extensive family. Among his relatives is his son, Yehuda Weissfish, chairman of the "Ichud Bnei Yeshivot" organization. His funeral procession began this morning from his home on Chafetz Chaim Street in Ashdod, passing by the educational institution where he taught on Rema Street. The procession then proceeded to the city's cemetery, where Rabbi Weissfish was laid to rest.
