Prominent Ashdod Rabbi Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack at 75

Rabbi Yehoshua David Weissfish, a respected and righteous figure in Ashdod, has passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 75. Known for his piety and dedication to Torah education, Rabbi Weissfish served as a teacher at the 'Cheder HaRav' yeshiva in Ashdod for approximately 50 years, nurturing thousands of students.

Born in 1951 to Rabbi Mordechai Meir Matityahu Weissfish and Mrs. Shoshana, he studied at the Grodna Yeshiva in Ashdod. After his marriage, he settled in Ashdod and dedicated his life to teaching, instilling in his students a love for Torah, prayer, and devotion to God. One former student described him as having a unique, fatherly relationship with each student, serving as a personal example of a righteous and elevated individual detached from worldly matters.

Rabbi Weissfish was known for his humility and piety, often walking on the sides of paths, and many benefited from his blessings. He passed away on the first night of Selichot prayers. His funeral is scheduled to depart from his home at 7 Chafetz Chaim Street in Ashdod on Sunday at 10:30 AM, proceeding via the 'Cheder HaRav' yeshiva on Rema Street to the Ashdod cemetery's Haredi section.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom continue his legacy. One of his sons, Rabbi Yehuda Weissfish, serves as the chairman of 'Ichud Bnei Hayeshivot'.
