Jonathan Battalion Concludes Six-Month Hezbollah Front Mission in Southern Lebanon

After approximately six months of operational activity in southern Lebanon, soldiers from the "Jonathan" Battalion of the Hasmonean Brigade have completed their current deployment and are heading for a period of rest and retraining. During their deployment, the battalion operated in several areas under the command of Brigades 300 and 679, carrying out missions to defend Israel's northern border and target Hezbollah infrastructure. The forces located and destroyed enemy weaponry and infrastructure, exposed underground shafts, and found Hezbollah rocket launchers aimed at Israeli territory.

During their retraining period, the soldiers will participate in a battalion exercise to enhance their combat readiness and maintain operational standards. Alongside training, they will engage in study sessions and meetings with rabbis, aimed at strengthening the religious identity of the brigade's soldiers. The "Jonathan" Battalion is noted for its rapid formation and operational readiness, a process typically taking many years.

At a ceremony marking the end of their mission, the commander of Division 91, Brigadier General Yuval Gaze, praised the battalion's achievements. He stated, "Jonathan Battalion, victory is yours. You established a battalion in record time, a process that usually takes many years, from its establishment to its operational readiness. You completed this entire journey within a year and a half, including entering combat and proving operational capability in the field." Gaze added, "You know how to combine great faith with uncompromising professionalism. This is your strength, and thanks to it, you were positioned on the front lines against the Hezbollah terrorist organization for the past six months, to protect the people of Israel and the land of Israel, with determination, professionalism, and great faith in the righteousness of your path."
