IDF's Givati Brigade Completes Mission in South Lebanon After Eight Months of Operations
The Givati Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces has completed its mission in southern Lebanon after eight months of activity, the IDF spokesperson announced on Thursday. Northern Command Chief Major General Rafi Milo spoke at the brigade's combat team completion ceremony held at Camp Filon, stating that the forces concluded their deployment following extensive defensive and offensive operations along the border.
The brigade operated in key areas including the villages of Al-Khiyam, Bint Jbeil, north of the Litani River, and the Beaufort ridge. During this period, the troops destroyed hundreds of terrorist infrastructures, eliminated hundreds of Hezbollah militants, and located over 1,000 weapons. Milo praised the soldiers and commanders for their courage and dedication, emphasizing that their efforts have significantly altered the security reality for years to come and enhanced the safety of northern Israeli residents.
Two days prior, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz visited the security zone in southern Lebanon alongside Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai. Netanyahu affirmed Israel's commitment to remain in southern Lebanon until the threat posed by Hezbollah is neutralized. Katz described the recently signed framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon as a historic and important political and security achievement that could reshape the northern border's stability after decades. He stressed that Israel has not withdrawn from Lebanon and continues to maintain the security zone, including the Beaufort ridge, with the condition that Hezbollah must be fully disarmed across Lebanon before any Israeli redeployment or withdrawal occurs.
