Israel Resilience Party Leader Gadi Eisenkot Taps Educator Adi Altshuler as Education Minister Candidate

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yisrael" party, announced Sunday that Adi Altshuler, a recipient of the Israel Prize and the Presidential Medal of Distinction, and founder of the "Wings of Karambot" youth movement and the "Zikaron BaSalon" (Memory in the Living Room) initiative, is joining his party. Eisenkot declared Altshuler as the party's candidate for Minister of Education.

Altshuler has dedicated over two decades to education and social work, establishing "Wings of Karambot," which integrates children with and without special needs, and "Zikaron BaSalon," a widespread initiative commemorating the Holocaust. She also founded "Inklu," a network of inclusive schools and kindergartens. Altshuler views education not just as knowledge acquisition but as a foundation for a cohesive, value-driven Israeli society.

Her extensive work has earned her significant recognition, including being named by TIME magazine as one of the world's six next-generation leaders in 2014. She was chosen to light an Independence Day torch in 2020, received the Presidential Medal of Distinction in 2023, and was awarded the Israel Prize in 2026 for her contributions to society and education.

Eisenkot stated that Altshuler is a social leader who has dedicated her life to Israeli society, with her initiatives fostering belonging and educating a generation in responsibility and mutual guarantee. Altshuler expressed her belief in Eisenkot's leadership and sincerity, stating her decision to join stems from a deep sense of responsibility and love for Israel, driven by her experience as a mother and her efforts to reform education from the outside.

The announcement comes as Eisenkot is engaged in coalition talks, having recently met with other party leaders to discuss potential alliances, including a possible union with Naftali Bennett's party.
