Israel Prize Laureate Adi Altshuler Joins Gadi Eisenkot's Party

Adi Altshuler, a recipient of the Israel Prize, renowned educator, and social entrepreneur, has joined Gadi Eisenkot's "Yisrael Beiteinu" party. Altshuler, the founder of the "Wings of Karambou" youth movement, the "Zikaron Ba'Salon" (Memory in the Living Room) initiative, and a co-founder of the "Includa" network of inclusive educational institutions, is slated to be the party's candidate for Minister of Education in a future government.

Altshuler has dedicated over two decades to education and social work, initiating groundbreaking projects. "Wings of Karambou" integrates youth with and without special needs, fostering leadership and mutual responsibility. "Zikaron Ba'Salon" has become a significant Israeli and international tradition for Holocaust remembrance, involving millions. "Includa" is an educational network working with the Ministry of Education and local authorities to create truly inclusive schools and kindergartens.

Her work emphasizes education not just for knowledge acquisition but as a foundation for a cohesive, value-driven, and excellent Israeli society. Altshuler's efforts bridge formal and informal education, connect children from diverse backgrounds, and span generations, aiming to build belonging, responsibility, and leadership from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Altshuler's contributions have earned her widespread recognition. TIME magazine named her one of the world's six leaders of the next generation in 2014. She was chosen to light an Independence Day torch in 2020, received the Presidential Award of Distinction in 2023, and was awarded the Israel Prize in 2026 for her societal and educational impact.

Within the "Yisrael Beiteinu" party, Altshuler plans to advance a high-quality, state-run educational system, strengthen the status of educators, promote values-based and inclusive education, and expand opportunities for all Israeli children. She believes education is a key driver for future generations and for strengthening social cohesion.

Eisenkot welcomed Altshuler, calling her a social leader who has dedicated her life to Israeli society. He highlighted her initiatives as building belonging and educating a generation in responsibility and mutual aid, stating Israel needs an educational system that provides knowledge and values. Altshuler expressed her belief in Eisenkot's leadership and sincerity, stating she could not stand aside during this "historic moment" and accepted his "significant offer" to serve as Education Minister.
