Israeli Hip Hop Pioneers Dag Nahash Celebrate 30 Years

Israeli hip hop group Dag Nahash marked three decades of activity with a special concert at the Caesarea Amphitheatre on Saturday night. The band, which formed in Jerusalem in 1996, performed a wide selection of their hits spanning their entire career, to a crowd that sang along to nearly every word.

Special guests joined the group on stage, including veteran singer Gidi Gov, who performed alongside Dag Nahash on songs like "Tzlal Mechvan" and "Erev Avud." Ninet Tayeb and Ravid Plotnik also made appearances. Plotnik, a prominent figure in contemporary Israeli hip hop, acknowledged the band's foundational influence, stating, "Israeli hip hop would not be what it is today without Dag Nahash."

The concert featured a diverse setlist, opening with a horn section performance and including fan favorites such as "Chutz Meze," "Ani Ma'amin," "Lo Pra'im," "Chaliot," "Mangina," "Lo Maspik," and "California." The show also included an acoustic segment with songs like "Shishi," "Ir Ha'elohim," and "Shemesh," followed by "Shirat HaSticker."

Later in the evening, the band played more of their biggest hits, including "Hakol Yistader," "Sa," "Shir Nechama," "Laluz," "Gabi V'Debi," "Liglayz," and "Hine Ani Ba." After a video tribute to their thirty years, they performed "Dag Life" and "Ma Na'ase," concluding the night with "Zman Lehit'orer."

Despite thirty years in the music industry, Dag Nahash continues to operate with its core lineup, releasing new music and performing. The Caesarea concert was a highlight of their anniversary celebrations, showcasing songs that have become integral to Israeli hip hop and popular music, many of which remain relevant today.
