Former MK Avir Kara Announces Exit From Upcoming Knesset Elections

Former Knesset Member Avir Kara announced on Sunday that he will not be running in the upcoming 26th Knesset elections. In a post on the social media platform X, Kara explained his decision, stating that recent events, including political turmoil, protests, societal division, and the "terrible massacre," have deeply impacted the Israeli people and necessitate significant, fundamental changes rather than superficial fixes.

Kara called for a "total restart" of Israeli society, economy, and governance, criticizing the current system for allegedly serving corrupt individuals and hindering entrepreneurs. He emphasized the need to prioritize the working citizens, entrepreneurs, and innovators who he believes sustain the country.

He expressed gratitude for the support he has received over the years, acknowledging that without it, he could not have served and influenced people's lives. Kara stated his belief that the energy and support he has garnered from Israelis seeking an efficient, free, and growing nation with genuine economic freedom should be channeled into the Knesset and government, but he feels this will not happen in the current election cycle.

Kara further elaborated that he has not found a political framework with the necessary determination to fundamentally alter the country's course, describing the upcoming elections as a mere reshuffling of the same political players. He reiterated his long-standing demand for a leaner, more efficient government with fewer ministries, significant reforms to combat the high cost of living in various sectors, and a government that manages public funds with utmost care and returns excess taxes to citizens.
