Former MK Avir Kara Signals Return to Knesset on Condition of Broad Powers

Former Knesset Member Avir Kara has indicated his potential return to the Israeli parliament, stating that he will only rejoin if offered the necessary tools and authority to implement his economic policies. Kara revealed that discussions regarding his potential return are ongoing and expected to continue after the Sabbath.

Kara emphasized that entering politics was not his initial ambition, describing it as a "financial damage" to himself and his family. He recalled his first foray into politics in 2021 when approached by Naftali Bennett, initially preferring someone else to take the Knesset seat. However, he ultimately decided to enter, viewing the Knesset as a means to an end, and cited leading reforms in areas such as regulation, the Standards Institution, sensitive food, private daycare, imports, agriculture, cosmetics, and business licensing during his tenure. He claimed these actions reduced bureaucracy, opened up the market, and increased competition, leading to a positive economic response.

For any potential return, Kara has set a clear condition: to be an "execution contractor." He is willing to re-enter the Knesset solely to combat the high cost of living, implement significant tax reductions, dismantle bureaucracy, foster free trade and imports, and fight fraud and economic crime. He reiterated that he has no interest in a political position for its own sake and has no time to waste on titles.

Kara sent a clear message to parties interested in recruiting him: "Whoever gives me the tools to execute this policy, I will be ready to go with them." He concluded by stating that while his return is uncertain, discussions are continuing and will likely extend beyond the Sabbath. Regardless of the outcome, Kara pledged to continue his work "around the clock" for the public, with or without a seat in the Knesset.
