Former MK Avir Kara Plans Political Comeback Claiming Support for Two Knesset Seats

Avir Kara, a former member of the Knesset who failed to secure a seat in the current election, announced his intention to return to politics, asserting that his popularity is on the rise. In an interview with Aral Segal and Eyal Berkovich, Kara revealed ongoing negotiations with four different parties, both established and new, as he prepares for the next electoral race. He estimated his support base at 50,000 to 60,000 voters, equivalent to two Knesset seats, and said he would join any party that guarantees him a clear path to election. "If I had four seats, I would run independently," he stated, adding his vision to transform Israel into a "paradise."

Kara dismissed the possibility of collaborating with other economic figures, sharply criticizing Professor Yaron Zalicha, calling him "a walking joke" and questioning his seriousness due to opposition to the cellular reform. Reflecting on his work since leaving the Knesset, Kara emphasized his commitment to serve as the 121st MK voluntarily if elected, lamenting the lack of a party capable of enacting the changes he envisions. He highlighted the need for courage and decisiveness to implement his ideas.

Among his proposed reforms, Kara focused on reducing government expenses and combating the high cost of living. He advocated cutting the number of government ministries from 32 to 18 to eliminate non-essential spending. He identified food, housing, and vehicles as the main cost drivers and promised a comprehensive reform in the automotive sector within the first 100 days of the next government, aiming to reduce car prices by 40%. Kara criticized the current tax burden on car purchases, which includes an 83% purchase tax plus 18% VAT, and noted he carries extensive documentation to advocate for correcting this tax distortion.
