Avir Kara Declines Knesset Run, Cites Lack of Suitable Political Framework

Avir Kara announced on Sunday that he will not be running in the upcoming Knesset elections, concluding a period of consideration about entering politics. In a lengthy statement, Kara explained that he could not find a political platform he believes is capable of enacting the changes he wishes to promote. "After serious and lengthy consideration, I have reached the decision that in the upcoming elections, I will not run for the Knesset and will not ask for your vote," he wrote.

Kara stated his belief that the public momentum built around the demand for an "efficient, free, and growing" country should eventually reach the Knesset and the government, but "it seems that in these elections, this will not happen." He elaborated that he has not currently found a political framework with the "iron eggs and determination needed to truly change the ship's course." He criticized the upcoming elections as merely shuffling the same political players, stating, "Israel does not need another change of two percent here and three percent there. These elections look like the same cards that will be shuffled in the same deck."

He outlined necessary reforms, including halving the number of government ministries, addressing the cost of living in food, vehicles, and housing, reducing taxes, deregulation, and reforming education, justice, and police systems. Kara also sharply criticized the use of state funds, calling for an end to what he described as "parasites" who treat the state treasury like an unlimited ATM, costing billions monthly in taxes. He argued that the required changes in Israel must be far more profound, comparing the necessary reforms to Javier Milei's approach, stating, "Milei's saw is a toy compared to what needs to be done here."

Despite his decision not to run, Kara affirmed his commitment to continued public activity. "I am not going anywhere. Quite the opposite. I am simply not willing to enter the Knesset at this stage for a chair, a title, or a salary. The Knesset, for me, has always been a means and never an end." He intends to continue working outside the Knesset to "fight, expose, help people, dismantle barriers, protect those the system has forgotten and those it has plundered, and build public power that cannot be ignored."

Kara concluded by leaving the door open for a future political return, stating, "If and when a real opportunity arises to make the great change we believe in, we will be there, with eyes on the goal, not on the means."
