Coach Itoudis Reveals Reason for Chris Jones' Departure from Hapoel Tel Aviv

Dimitris Itoudis, the coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv, has revealed the primary reason behind guard Chris Jones' departure from the team. In an interview with Serbian outlet Mozzart, Itoudis explained that Jones wished to stay with the club, and there were no issues with his performance or relationship with the team. However, the "situation in Israel" created a serious problem due to the trauma his family experienced, compounded by the team's relocation to Bulgaria.

Itoudis elaborated that the team's move to Bulgaria, necessitated by the previous season's difficulties, ultimately led to Jones' decision to leave. The coach expressed satisfaction with Jones' contributions, stating he was a significant part of the roster. Hapoel Tel Aviv recently secured an impressive 94-83 preseason victory over Partizan Belgrade.

Looking ahead, Itoudis praised the signings made by Crvena Zvezda (Red Star), particularly Chris Jones and Jonathan Motley, describing them as "amazing signings" who will bring valuable experience to the team, having played in the EuroLeague for years. He also commented on Vasilije Micić, another key player, noting his ability to perform under immense pressure and his readiness for the upcoming season, emphasizing the team's confidence in him.
