Coach Itoudis Reveals Reason for Chris Jones' Departure from Hapoel Tel Aviv
Dimitris Itoudis, the coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv, has revealed the primary reason behind guard Chris Jones' departure from the team. In an interview with Serbian outlet Mozzart, Itoudis explained that Jones wished to stay with the club, but the situation in Israel, coupled with the trauma his family experienced and the team's relocation to Bulgaria, created significant difficulties.
Itoudis stated that while everything was otherwise fine between the player and the team, the circumstances ultimately led to Jones' exit. He emphasized that the team was satisfied with Jones' contribution and considered him a significant part of the roster.
The coach also commented on the upcoming season for his team, noting the impressive roster assembled by rival Red Star Belgrade. He specifically praised the signings of Chris Jones and Jonathan Motley, predicting they would bring valuable experience to the team due to their extensive EuroLeague careers.
Itoudis also expressed his high regard for another key player, Vasilije Micić, describing him as belonging to the highest level of basketball. He acknowledged the immense pressure Micić faces due to his status but expressed happiness that the player arrived for the season well-prepared and reliable.
