Chris Jones Set to Leave Hapoel Tel Aviv for Red Star Belgrade
Hapoel Tel Aviv point guard Chris Jones has finalized a move to Red Star Belgrade, according to BasketNews senior reporter Donatas Urbonas. Jones is expected to leave Hapoel at the end of the 2025/2026 season and sign a two-year contract with the Serbian club.
The report follows recent Serbian media claims that Jones was close to joining Red Star, even as Hapoel Tel Aviv reportedly improved its offer to keep him. Despite that, the move is now considered complete, and Jones will head to Belgrade to replace Cody Miller-McIntyre, who has left for Olympiacos.
Red Star will be Jones’s fifth EuroLeague team. He began his EuroLeague career with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2020/2021 season, later played for ASVEL, spent three seasons with Valencia, and joined Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer.
This season, Jones has averaged 10 points, 4.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds per EuroLeague game for Hapoel. In Thursday’s win over Hapoel Jerusalem, which completed a 3-0 semifinal sweep and sent Hapoel to the final, he contributed 7 points and 7 assists.
