Chris Jones Set to Join Red Star Belgrade After Hapoel Tel Aviv Season
Hapoel Tel Aviv guard Chris Jones has reached a full agreement with Red Star Belgrade and will sign a two-year contract after the 2025/2026 season ends. The report, confirmed Friday by senior BasketNews writer Donatas Urbonas, says the move is now settled despite recent talk that Hapoel had improved its offer.
Jones is expected to leave Hapoel and move to Serbia’s capital to replace Cody Miller-McIntyre, who departed for Olympiacos. The transfer ends his stint with the Israeli club after one season.
Red Star will be Jones’ fifth EuroLeague stop. He began his EuroLeague career with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2020/2021 season, then played for ASVEL, spent three seasons with Valencia, and joined Hapoel Tel Aviv last summer.
This season, Jones averaged 10 points, 4.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds per EuroLeague game for Hapoel. In Thursday night’s win over Hapoel Jerusalem, which completed a 3-0 series sweep and sent Hapoel to the final, he scored 7 points and handed out 7 assists.
