Coach Reveals Chris Jones' Departure From Hapoel Tel Aviv Due to Israel Situation

Hapoel Tel Aviv's coach, Dimitris Itoudis, revealed the primary reason behind player Chris Jones' departure from the team. Following a recent 94-83 preseason victory over Partizan Belgrade, Itoudis explained in an interview that Jones wished to stay with the club, but the situation in Israel, coupled with the team's relocation to Bulgaria, created significant difficulties.

Itoudis stated that the trauma experienced by Jones' family due to the circumstances in Israel was a serious concern. The necessity of moving the team to Bulgaria, a change that also presented challenges from the previous season, ultimately led to Jones' decision to leave. The coach expressed satisfaction with Jones' performance, noting he was a significant part of the roster.

Itoudis also commented on the roster of his former team, Fenerbahçe, praising their acquisition of Chris Jones and Jonathan Motley, highlighting their extensive EuroLeague experience. He believes they will bring valuable experience to the team.

Furthermore, Itoudis spoke about Vasilije Micić, one of his key players, describing him as belonging to the highest level of play. He noted that Micić handles immense pressure well and is prepared for the upcoming season, expressing confidence in his reliability.
