Stolen Israeli Military Missile Seized Near Shfaram, Two Suspects Arrested
Israeli police on Sunday announced the seizure of a "Matador" anti-tank missile, reported stolen from the Israeli military, near the city of Shfaram in northern Israel. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, one of whom is an illegal resident.
The missile was discovered during a joint operation by officers from the Northern District Police and border guards in the Galilee region. The operation, which took place on September 5, 2026, also involved members of the Yassam and Ya'gal units of the Northern District's Central Unit (Yamar).
Police stated that since the beginning of the year, officers in the Northern District and border guards have confiscated over 610 lethal weapons and arrested armed individuals in their fight against violent crime. The authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend suspects and bring those involved to justice.
The two arrested individuals were taken for further investigation by the Central Unit in the Galilee Directorate. Based on the investigation's findings, police intend to request an extension of their detention from the court.
