Shoulder-Fired Missile Stolen from IDF Found Near Shfaram; Two Arrested

Police arrested two suspects, including an undocumented Palestinian worker, near the city of Shfaram on Sunday, on suspicion of possessing a significant cache of illegal weapons, including a "Matador" shoulder-fired missile that had been stolen from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The discovery was made during a targeted operation by officers from the Northern District, the Special Patrol Unit, and the Border Unit of the Northern District's Investigative Unit, aimed at locating illegal arms.

The suspects were apprehended at the scene and taken for further investigation by the Galilee District's investigative unit. Their detention will be extended by the court upon the police's request, pending the investigation's findings.

The police stated that since the beginning of the year, over 610 lethal weapons have been seized by officers from the Northern District and the Border Police, with numerous arrests made in the fight against violent crime. The statement emphasized the police's ongoing commitment to combating violence and illegal arms to ensure public safety.

In a separate incident last month, a LAW rocket, four handguns, and four fragmentation grenades, also suspected of being stolen from the IDF, were found in a bomb shelter in Ramla. A Lod resident in his twenties was arrested in connection with that seizure.
