Summer Heat Wave Peaks Midweek Before Gradual Cooling

Forecasters predict a fluctuating summer weather pattern for the upcoming week, beginning with normal summer conditions on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to rise significantly on Monday and Tuesday, peaking about 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above average, before gradually declining from Wednesday onwards, returning to seasonal norms by Thursday.

On Sunday, the weather will be partly cloudy to clear with a slight temperature drop, bringing conditions around the annual average. However, afternoons will be hot in mountainous areas and even hotter in plains and coastal regions. Evenings will be moderate, becoming pleasant in the mountains but remaining less so in plains and coastal areas. Winds will be light to moderate west to northwest, and the sea will be calm to moderately rough.

Monday and Tuesday will see a marked increase in temperatures, making daytime conditions hot in mountainous areas and very hot elsewhere, accompanied by higher humidity. Evenings will remain pleasant in the mountains and less so in plains and coastal areas. Winds and sea conditions will be similar to Sunday.

By Wednesday, temperatures will start to decrease gradually, though afternoons will remain hot, especially in plains and coastal areas. Thursday will bring a further slight drop, returning temperatures to their annual averages. Daytime will be clear and hot, with evenings and nights becoming pleasant and refreshing, particularly in mountainous regions.

The Meteorological Department issued warnings against prolonged direct sun exposure between 11 AM and 4 PM. They also advised against starting fires near dry vegetation and cautioned against leaving children or the elderly in closed vehicles.
