Yesh Atid Lawmaker Michal Shir Opts Out of Knesset Election Race

Knesset Member Michal Shir has announced she will not run in the upcoming Knesset elections, informing Yesh Atid party chairman Yair Lapid of her decision at the start of Shabbat. Shir emphasized that her withdrawal is not a departure from the party, and she will continue to support its activities. She stated her decision stems from a desire to focus on other areas of public and political engagement, not from a rift with Yesh Atid. The lawmaker expressed continued confidence in Lapid and her party colleagues, stressing her belief in the need for significant reforms in Israel. "This is not the end of my public path, but rather a continuation in other directions. I am proud of all my achievements," Shir wrote. She intends to continue assisting "BeYachad" and Yesh Atid in forming a political alternative, which she described as clear, ethical, state-oriented, and focused on public interests. Shir, who has been involved in public and political life since her youth, affirmed her commitment to serving the state despite not seeking re-election. Her decision follows a series of personnel changes within Yesh Atid and comes after MK Sharon Nir of the Yisrael Beiteinu party also announced she would not be running in the October 27 elections.
