Another Yesh Atid Lawmaker Quits Ahead of Elections

Knesset Member Karin Elharrar announced on Thursday that she will not be running in the upcoming elections, marking the latest departure from the Yesh Atid party. Elharrar stated that after 14 years with the party, she is seeking a new challenge. Her decision brings the total number of lawmakers leaving Yesh Atid, led by Yair Lapid, to six.

In her statement, Elharrar expressed gratitude to Lapid for bringing her into politics 14 years ago, calling him a true leader who prioritizes the country's welfare. She highlighted her involvement in establishing the party and her roles, including chairing Knesset committees and serving as Minister of Energy, as well as her legislative work on behalf of at-risk youth and women's rights.

Elharrar clarified that she is not leaving Yesh Atid entirely, emphasizing it remains her political home. She pledged to participate in the upcoming election campaign to support the party's efforts to win. She thanked her colleagues, staff, and activists for their contributions during her tenure.

Previous lawmakers who have announced their departure from Yesh Atid include Miki Levy, Meir Cohen, Debbie Biton, Tatiana Mazarsky, and Yoav Segalovich. Miki Levy is the only one among them who has reached an agreement with Lapid to remain with the party and continue his work within it.
