Candidate's Hospital Visit Fuels Uncertainty Over Withdrawal

Mohammad Barakeh, a leader in the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality, stated on Saturday that he visited candidate Jafar Farah in the hospital and spoke with him directly. This visit occurred amidst tension surrounding the election hall in Shfaram, related to developments concerning the Front's candidate for the second seat. Barakeh informed supporters of Farah gathered outside the election hall that Farah would issue a statement clarifying his position on recent events once he is released from the hospital. Barakeh indicated that Farah's statement would address the ongoing discussions and the aftermath of the announcement regarding the withdrawal of his candidacy.

Barakeh asserted that the statement released Friday by the Front and the party, announcing Farah's withdrawal, was made with his "consent and approval," emphasizing that Farah was aware of and agreed with its contents. Despite the Front's announcement of Farah's withdrawal, Farah himself has not yet made any direct statement or personal declaration regarding the recent developments, nor has he personally announced his withdrawal or resignation. The announcement of his withdrawal came via a statement from the Front, which claimed Farah had informed them of his decision to withdraw, without any personal statement from Farah explaining the circumstances or his stance.

Lawyer Nibal Aradat, who is close to Farah, stated that Farah "has not declared his resignation or withdrawal." She urged that "the list remain as chosen by the public," asserting that the constitution dictates the public chooses and dismisses. Aradat requested that Farah be given until Sunday to issue a statement clarifying his position. She also noted that the number of members and comrades outside the Front's meeting "is greater than the number of comrades inside the meeting," suggesting significant opposition to the recent developments.
