Israel's Water Supply Stable and Safe, Ministry Assures Public

The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, along with the Water Authority, announced on Friday, September 4, 2026, that the country's water sector is functioning stably. According to the ministry, water systems fully stabilized within the past 24 hours, and water supply to all residents and the agricultural sector continues without interruption or restrictions.

This uninterrupted supply was achieved through the combined efforts of desalination plants, increased water inflow from the Sea of Galilee, and hundreds of wells nationwide. The national water company Mekorot will continue replenishing reservoirs this weekend to ensure maximum reserves for the upcoming week, anticipating a decrease in private consumption.

Officials emphasized that drinking water is completely safe for consumption and domestic use, posing no concerns. They also clarified that the localized spraying of approved substances into the sea, conducted with the approval of an inter-ministerial committee led by the Ministries of Environmental Protection and Health, poses no danger to swimmers.

A temporary ban on localized fishing in the work area, imposed by the Ministry of Health, is a precautionary measure pending ecological monitoring results. However, fish available in markets and at beaches are deemed entirely safe.
