Israel Overcomes Water Crisis, Restores Supply and Safety

Israel appears to be emerging from a severe water crisis, with the Ministry of Energy announcing the full stabilization of the desalination system and the restoration of normal water supply to the public and agriculture. Following several days of significant disruptions to desalination plants, the country's water system stabilized within the last 24 hours, returning to normal operations without restrictions.

Stabilization was achieved through dynamic water resource management, which involved operating desalination plants alongside increased water intake from the Sea of Galilee and activating hundreds of groundwater wells nationwide. The Ministry of Energy emphasized that tap water in Israel is completely safe for drinking and domestic use.

Regarding the situation at sea, where special chemicals were used to address the crisis, the ministry stated that these substances were applied in specific areas with the approval of an inter-ministerial committee including representatives from the Ministries of Environmental Protection and Health. Official data indicates the chemicals pose no danger to swimmers, and environmental monitoring is ongoing in the affected areas.

A fishing ban in a limited zone remains in effect as a precautionary measure pending monitoring results, though fish sold in markets and along the coast are deemed safe for consumption. The primary focus now is on replenishing water reserves and ensuring sufficient backup for potential future disruptions to desalination facilities.
