Firefighters Rescue Calf Trapped in Deep Pit Near Ayelet Hashahar

Fire and rescue teams from the Galil Golan station, along with the Northern District's special rescue unit, successfully extricated a calf that had fallen into a deep, open pit near Ayelet Hashahar in the Hula Valley. The calf was discovered trapped at the bottom of the pit, distressed and dehydrated, unable to escape on its own.

Special rescue unit firefighters descended carefully to the pit's floor using rope systems and specialized equipment. They safely secured the calf and brought it back to the surface. The operation concluded with the calf unharmed.

Incident commander, Chief Fire Officer Oshri Almakiess, stated, "When we arrived, we identified the calf trapped at a great depth, in complex terrain, and unable to get out on its own. The firefighters descended to the bottom of the pit and operated with sensitivity, professionalism, and great caution." He added, "After we secured it to the rescue system, we safely brought it to the surface. Fortunately, the rescue ended with the calf healthy and whole."

This rescue is considered one of the unusual incidents undertaken by the special rescue units of the fire and rescue services in the north.
