Bee and Wasp Swarms Disrupt IDF Base in Gush Etzion
An unusual environmental event has disrupted soldiers at the reserve battalion 8553 base in Gush Etzion for several days. Swarms of bees and wasps have infested the base, entering living quarters and stinging multiple soldiers. To avoid further contact with the insects, soldiers are confined to buildings for most of the day.
A primary concern is the safety of soldiers with severe allergies, as their epinephrine auto-injectors are not immediately accessible. Despite multiple complaints to company commanders and brigade officials, no effective solution has been found.
The IDF stated that the issue is being handled by the relevant authorities. According to military sources, specialized traps were deployed earlier in the week, but efforts to resolve the nuisance are hampered by the difficulty in locating the main nest.
