Bees and Wasps Plague IDF Base in Gush Etzion, Soldiers Confined

Soldiers at an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in the Gush Etzion settlement bloc are facing a severe infestation of bees and wasps, forcing them to remain inside buildings. Reserve soldiers from Battalion 8553 have reported being stung multiple times, with the insects now entering their living quarters. The situation is particularly concerning for soldiers with allergies, as their epinephrine auto-injectors are reportedly inaccessible.

One female soldier told N12 News that the soldiers are confined to their structures to avoid further stings. She highlighted the presence of allergic soldiers and the inaccessibility of a single epinephrine pen, adding that appeals to company commanders and relevant brigade officials have not yet resolved the issue.

The IDF stated that the matter is being handled and that bee traps were placed at the beginning of the week. However, the insects' nest has not yet been located, and the problem persists. Efforts are ongoing to identify and neutralize the source of the infestation.
