FBI Says It Disrupted Alleged White House Attack Plot During UFC Event
FBI Director Kash Patel said federal investigators stopped a suspected attack plot aimed at a UFC event held at the White House on Sunday. In a post on X, Patel said the FBI and its partners learned on June 10 of a potential threat to the Washington event involving people from outside the U.S. capital area.
Patel said a rapid response by the FBI, law enforcement agencies and the Justice Department, as part of a multi-state operation, led to the arrest of several suspects and the disruption of the alleged plans. He did not provide further details about the detainees or the status of the investigation.
Patel also shared a Fox News report describing the alleged scheme in more detail. According to that account, one group of suspects planned to use explosive-laden drones against structures near the event, then attack fleeing crowds with a sniper team. The same report said additional suspects were allegedly preparing to storm the White House gates amid the resulting chaos.
