FBI Says It Thwarted Plot to Attack White House UFC Event
Fox News reported Tuesday that the FBI disrupted a complex terror plot aimed at the historic UFC fight event held at the White House complex. Authorities said the network involved more than 20 potential participants, and five suspects have already been arrested and are being held as the investigation continues.
According to the report, the suspects traveled to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to carry out final preparations for what investigators believe was to be a coordinated assault. The alleged plan included drone strikes using explosive devices against buildings near the event to trigger mass panic, funnel fleeing crowds into a sniper ambush, and then send a second wave of attackers to rush the White House gates and try to seize the building.
The FBI’s investigation said the group had identified a target list that included politicians associated with AIPAC, billionaires, and people they described as “capitalist elites.” Officials first detected the threat on June 10 and launched a rapid operation with local law enforcement to stop it before it could be carried out.
FBI Director Kash Patel praised the response, saying, “We are built to identify, respond and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of American citizens, especially during large gatherings like the UFC 250 historic fight event. That is exactly what we did here.” More than 4,300 people attended the event, including about 200 service members and security personnel, and no one was hurt.
