Five Arrested in Foiled Drone Bomb Plot Near the White House
The FBI has arrested five suspects after disrupting a planned terrorist attack aimed at an UFC event on the South Lawn of the White House. The event was held on Tuesday and marked President Donald Trump’s birthday, according to the report in the New York Post.
Officials who spoke to Fox News said the plot was multi-stage and centered on using drones carrying explosives to strike structures near the event. Investigators said the intended blasts were meant to trigger mass panic and drive fleeing attendees toward a sniper team that had been positioned in advance.
The report also said the attackers were planning a second wave that would storm the White House gate after the initial chaos. The suspects were arrested before they could carry out the plan.
