Veteran Reporter Neria Kraus Departs Channel 13 News

Channel 13 News is experiencing a significant departure as veteran journalist Neria Kraus announced she is leaving the network after nearly a decade of service. Her exit follows the official appointment of reporter Souleiman Maswadeh as the channel's envoy in Washington D.C.

Following the decision to assign Maswadeh the U.S. coverage, discussions were held between Channel 13's management and Kraus regarding alternative roles. However, Kraus ultimately decided to conclude her tenure with the company.

Kraus, a graduate of Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), began her career at Channel 13's predecessor, "Hadashot 10," as a reporter for the consumer program "Hakol included." She was later promoted to the position of culture editor for Channel 13 News. In early 2023, she moved to Washington as the news company's correspondent.

During her time abroad, Kraus closely covered the war's developments and its impact on the U.S. administration. She conducted interviews with Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump and provided ongoing reports from the turbulent political and diplomatic scene. Channel 13 News officially thanked Kraus for her contributions, stating, "We thank Neria for years of excellent journalism, for professional and uncompromising coverage of the U.S. political and diplomatic scene, and for a prominent and important presence on screen during an unprecedentedly turbulent and complex period. Maswadeh's appointment as the U.S. correspondent comes after he announced his departure from Kan 11, where he was a prominent reporter, after nine years. He joined Channel 13 News to lead coverage of the White House and the international arena.
