Microsoft Israel R&D Chief Michal Braverman-Blumenthal to Resign

Michal Braverman-Blumenthal, the head of Microsoft's Research and Development division in Israel, will step down from her position by the end of the year after 13 years with the company. Her successor has not yet been named.

Braverman-Blumenthal currently serves as the managing director of Microsoft Israel's R&D unit and as the company's security division's chief technology officer. Microsoft stated that she was instrumental in developing the company's cybersecurity business, making it a key growth area. During her tenure, the number of employees across six sites doubled, and the center was recognized multiple times as a top workplace in Israel.

The Israeli R&D center develops technologies and products used by millions globally. It is one of Microsoft's largest R&D centers, comparable to those in Silicon Valley and Boston. Established in 1991, it was Microsoft's first research facility outside the United States.

This departure follows that of Alon Haimovich, the former head of Microsoft Israel, who left a few months ago. Nati Amsterdam, previously in a leadership role at Nvidia Israel, was appointed as his replacement.
