Microsoft Israel R&D Chief Departs After 13 Years

Michal Brverman-Blumenthal, the CEO of Microsoft Israel's Research and Development center and a vice president in the global security division, has announced her resignation after 13 years with the company. Brverman-Blumenthal, who led the local R&D arm for the past six and a half years, will continue in her role until the end of the year. The name of her successor will be announced later.

Her tenure was marked by significant expansion. She joined Microsoft in 2013 to establish the cloud security division. As CEO, she oversaw a doubling of the workforce to approximately 3,000 employees across six locations, with half focused on cyber activities. In a message to employees, she thanked them for their resilience since October 7, stating, "Your resilience and perseverance will stay with me for the rest of my life. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime privilege."

Brverman-Blumenthal's departure follows another significant leadership change at Microsoft Israel, occurring just months after the resignation of its former CEO, Alon Haimovitz, and the appointment of Nati Amsterdamm as his replacement. The Israeli development center, which was the first established outside the United States in 1991, is now preparing for a new era in its management.
