Israeli Charity 'Mashbia' Supports Families with Food Packages

The organization 'Mashbia L'Kol Chai Ratzon' has been providing monthly food packages to needy families for 30 years, enabling them to live with dignity. Natanel Shanir, the organization's director, explained that their warehouse is located in the Ofra industrial zone. Each month, approximately 500 food packages are assembled, primarily containing dry goods, supplemented with chicken and fish, and including fruits and vegetables during holidays.

Volunteers and staff pack the baskets, and the organization's truck delivers them to community coordinators. These coordinators, connected to local rabbis or welfare departments, manage updated lists of recipients. They discreetly deliver the packages to ensure families receive them without embarrassment. Shanir stated that the organization reaches families and locations in the West Bank that others do not.

The organization increases its aid during holidays and has seen a significant rise in beneficiaries due to the ongoing war. Shanir noted that in the past three years, the distribution balance has shifted, with many families of IDF widows now requiring assistance, and Mashbia provides them with initial support.

Currently, the organization is preparing for its 'Pidyon Kaparot' campaign ahead of Yom Kippur. This initiative allows donors to fulfill the mitzvah of charity through their Kaparot funds, with the money used to provide a food basket to a needy family. The organization's coordinators ensure these baskets reach the families, allowing donors to contribute to both the mitzvah and supporting families during the holiday.
