Israeli Club Offers $3 Million to Juan Cuadrado, Who Declines
A top Israeli soccer club reportedly offered $3 million to veteran Colombian player Juan Cuadrado, but the 38-year-old winger/right-back declined the bid. The offer was made by an unnamed club in Israel's top league, according to a report from Colombia.
Cuadrado, who played for Serie A club Salernitana last season, also rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. His stated preference is to play in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States or in the Mexican league. A return to his native Colombia after 17 years abroad is not currently being considered.
Cuadrado has had a decorated career in Europe, playing for clubs such as Udinese, Fiorentina, Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan, Atalanta, and most recently, Salernitana. He made 19 appearances and scored one goal in Serie A last season.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv, another Israeli club, recently signed veteran right-back James Tavernier, who is expected to officially join the team soon.
