Maccabi Tel Aviv Sells Forward Abu Farchi to Colorado Rapids for $6 Million

Israeli forward Sayed Abu Farchi has officially signed with the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS), marking another Israeli player's move to the American league. The transfer fee agreed upon between Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Rapids is $6 million, with an additional $1 million potentially coming in bonuses tied to goal-scoring. Maccabi Tel Aviv will also retain 20% of any future transfer fee.

Abu Farchi is set to earn a gross salary of $800,000 per season, with potential bonuses of up to $150,000. He also receives 10% of the current transfer fee, amounting to $600,000, and will hold 10% of any future sale by the Rapids to another club.

Colorado Rapids president Pádraig Smith expressed excitement about the signing, calling Abu Farchi an "exceptional player with a winner's mentality" whose goal-scoring ability and off-ball work were particularly attractive. He noted that Abu Farchi was sought after by multiple clubs and is expected to be a key part of the Rapids' future plans.

Rapids head coach Matt Wells highlighted Abu Farchi's experience at a high level despite his youth, praising his aggressive attacking style, technical ability, and consistent pressure on opponents. The team currently sits seventh in the Western Conference standings.

Abu Farchi concludes his tenure with Maccabi Tel Aviv having scored 16 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions, winning three titles. This season, he scored five goals in eight games, including a brace in the Champions of Champions match. He joined Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth academy in 2016 and debuted for the senior team at age 17.
