Israeli Teen's Viral TikTok Interview Prank Sparks Online Debate

A 16-year-old Israeli girl, Romy Stein, has gone viral after cleverly pranking a TikTok street interviewer in London. The interviewer, known for his 'guess my country' segments, attempted to trick Stein into revealing her nationality through leading questions. Stein, however, quickly realized his tactic and responded with "Everyone hates us," a phrase that resonated with viewers and hinted at her Israeli origin.

Stein explained in an interview with mako that she initially thought the crew was filming a commercial. After observing them for two hours, she approached them and agreed to participate in their TikTok videos. She realized the interviewer was trying to make fun of her, so she decided to turn the tables, calling him "stupid" in Hebrew. The video quickly garnered nearly 3 million views across platforms within 24 hours, sparking a wave of reactions.

While some viewers praised Stein's quick wit, others criticized her for not representing Israel respectfully. Pro-Israel pages shared the video, questioning the interviewer's intentions, while many comments on the original post were anti-Israel. Stein noted that she deleted her English response to avoid negative comments from pro-Palestinian accounts and chose to respond only in Hebrew.

Stein also revealed that her Hebrew response, "Riki, the daughter of a whore," was an inside joke with her friend Riki, whom she was speaking to on the phone during the interview. The interviewer reportedly asked her to say "stupid" in her language, which she did. Despite the controversy, Stein's TikTok following doubled, and she expressed gratitude for the positive support she received from Jewish and pro-Israel communities online.
