Israeli Passengers Demand Exit From Stranded Plane; Pilot Threatens Police

A flight operated by Arkia Israeli Airlines en route from Israel to Mykonos, Greece, was forced to divert to Athens due to a technical malfunction discovered mid-flight. The aircraft experienced a hydraulic issue, necessitating an emergency landing in the Greek capital for repairs.

Upon landing in Athens, numerous Israeli passengers became stranded on the plane for over an hour. Growing impatient, many demanded to disembark, disregarding crew instructions. The situation escalated when the pilot warned the passengers, "I will call the police if you do not sit down." An Arkia flight attendant also appealed to the passengers, stating, "I ask that you do not act violently."

Among the stranded passengers was electronic music producer Asi Swissa, known as Skazi. He shared a video documenting the incident, which included an announcement from a representative explaining the delay and the need for a vehicle to transport them. The pilot's subsequent warning was also captured in the footage.

Arkia released a statement confirming the safe landing in Athens due to a hydraulic malfunction. The airline stated that maintenance crews were actively working to fix the issue and that the flight was expected to resume its journey to Mykonos as soon as possible. The airline assured that Athens offered the best facilities for addressing the problem.
