Panel Recommends Security Detail for Gadi Eisenkot Until Elections

A special advisory committee has recommended providing continuous security detail for Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the National Unity Party, until the upcoming elections. This recommendation follows new intelligence and findings presented by Eisenkot's team to security officials. The decision now goes to the Ministerial Committee for the Shin Bet for final approval.

The committee is also expected to review the security arrangements for Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, who has also submitted similar security concerns. Previously, a controversy arose when Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar decided against providing Eisenkot with security, citing a lack of concrete intelligence or threats. This decision prompted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to intervene, instructing Bar to ensure Eisenkot received adequate security.

In light of the updated findings, the advisory committee re-evaluated the threat level and the necessity of adjusting security measures for party leaders in the lead-up to the elections.
