Hapoel Haifa goalkeeper Yoav Ofek delivered a spectacular double save during a recent match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, potentially one of the season's best saves in the Israeli Premier League. The save involved stopping a penalty kick and a subsequent rebound header.
The penalty, awarded to Hapoel Tel Aviv and taken by Stav Turi'el, was deemed controversial by some. Ofek correctly anticipated Turi'el's shot, diving to his right to make the initial save. However, the rebound fell to Turi'el, who attempted to score on the second try, directing the ball towards the opposite side of the goal. To Turi'el's misfortune, the ball struck the crossbar.
Luck seemed to favor Hapoel Tel Aviv momentarily, but the ball rebounded from the crossbar directly to Hapoel Tel Aviv's Daniel Dafa. The young forward headed the ball towards the net. Ofek, who had initially dived right for the penalty, managed to scramble back to his left, stretching to make an incredible save and secure the ball just as it was about to cross the goal line.
