Chasidic Music Project Releases New EP Featuring Top Israeli Singers

The 'Tzama' project has released a new EP featuring three new musical interpretations ahead of the 18th of Elul, the anniversary of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe's birth. The EP includes performances by Avraham Fried, Raviv Kaner, and Daniel Weiss, with songs focusing on longing, faith, and prayer, accompanying the month of Elul and the preparation for the High Holy Days.

Daniel Weiss performs 'Kol Biyער,' attributed to the Grandfather of Spola, a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. The song depicts a father searching for his sons, who wish to return but find a locked gate. Weiss described his involvement as a "personal and moving full circle," stemming from a sound engineering job at Radio Tel Aviv studios and a visit to Kibbutz Be'eri. He noted the studio work with producer Naor Karmi and filming in Ben Shemen Forest allowed him to express his personal emotions and story authentically.

Avraham Fried delivers a live rendition of 'Hanashama Yordet El Tokh Haguf' from the 'Tzama' 5786 performances. This Chabad melody explores the soul's descent into the world, framing life's challenges as part of a process for spiritual ascent. Fried commented that the soul responds to these challenges by recognizing that "the descent is for the sake of ascent! All of this is worthwhile!".

Raviv Kaner completes the EP with a rendition of 'Arashet Sefateinu,' a melody typically played by cantors in Lyubavichi after the shofar blasts during the Rosh Hashanah Musaf service. Kaner expressed his excitement to participate in the 'Tzama' project, stating his pride in being a connected and believing Jew during this time.
