Doctor Flees Police, Crashes into Patrol Car During High-Speed Chase

A 29-year-old resident of Rahat, who recently completed his medical exams, faces charges after a dramatic police chase in northern Israel. The incident occurred on August 10th in the evening on Highway 77 near the Beit Rimmon interchange. Police officers on patrol noticed a vehicle committing a traffic violation and signaled the driver to stop for inspection. Instead, the driver fled, initiating a pursuit that lasted several kilometers. During the chase, officers fired at the vehicle's tires in an attempt to stop it. The suspect was eventually apprehended after crashing into a police car that blocked his path.

During the investigation, officers observed a bag being thrown from the suspect's vehicle during the escape. Upon retrieving the bag, authorities discovered various weapons inside, along with other items found in the suspect's car. A report was later received from a female driver who stated that her car had run over a bag on the road, only realizing it was stuck underneath her vehicle after reaching her home. Police examined the bag and found an M16 rifle, which was found to match parts discovered in the suspect's car.

The suspect was arrested and taken for questioning. Following the investigation, the prosecution filed an indictment against him and requested his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings. The police stated, "The Israel Police will continue to act with determination to address incidents of violence and locate illegal weapons in order to maintain public safety and ensure justice is served against offenders."
