Doctor Flees Police, Discards Bag with M16 Rifle Found by Another Driver

A 29-year-old doctor, who recently completed his medical exams, was arrested in northern Israel after a dramatic police chase. The incident began when officers spotted the suspect committing a traffic violation near the Beit Rimmon interchange and signaled him to stop. Instead, the driver sped away, endangering other road users.

A pursuit ensued for several kilometers, during which police fired at the vehicle's tires to force it to stop. Despite the damage, the suspect continued to flee until his path was blocked by a police car, and he crashed into it. Bodycam footage captured the tense moments as officers apprehended the man.

During the chase, officers observed the suspect throwing a bag from his car. Later, a female driver contacted the police, reporting that she had run over a bag and discovered it lodged under her vehicle. Police opened the bag and found an M16 assault rifle, matching parts and findings previously discovered in the suspect's car.

The suspect, a resident of Rahat, faces serious charges, and prosecutors have requested he be held until the end of proceedings. Police noted that over 610 weapons have been seized in the northern region this year as part of crime-fighting efforts.
