Israeli Police Arrest Man Attempting to Dispose of M-16 Replica and Ammunition in Sagiv Shalom

On July 30, police from the Sagiv Shalom station and Yoav unit raided a home in neighborhood 3 of Sagiv Shalom to execute a search warrant. Upon arrival, officers observed a man in his twenties carrying an M-16 replica rifle wrapped in cling film on the roof. The suspect threw the weapon over the fence into a neighbor's yard and was subsequently arrested as he descended the stairs.

During the search, officers discovered an arsenal including four fully loaded M-16 magazines, six empty magazines, four connected magazines, various weapon parts such as a handle, stock, and sight, and hundreds of loose 5.56mm bullets stored in a cabinet. The M-16 replica and ammunition were confiscated.

Following the investigation, the Southern District Prosecutor's Office filed charges against the suspect for illegal possession of weapons, parts, and ammunition, carrying a weapon, unlawful transfer of weapons and ammunition, obstruction of justice, and interfering with police duties.

Sagiv Shalom police commander Superintendent Eli Cohen emphasized the force's commitment to combating illegal weapons possession and ensuring public safety. He noted that despite attempts to conceal or discard weapons, police will continue to locate such arms and bring offenders to justice.
