Journalist Guy Peleg Denies Abusing Colleague on Air

Israeli journalist Guy Peleg has responded for the first time to a controversy that erupted after his on-air remarks to radio technician Shaked Morag. Peleg dismissed claims that his comments were abusive, stating that the "poison machine" had distorted and blackened his words. He clarified that Morag is his good friend at the radio station and that he never reprimanded or lectured her on air, let alone conducted a "hearing" during the broadcast.

The controversy began when Peleg, during a live broadcast, criticized Morag for a perceived lack of initiative, using a soccer analogy to say she was "running away from the ball." This sparked public outcry regarding the manner in which Peleg addressed Morag.

Peleg vehemently denied the accusations of bullying, calling the portrayal of him as someone who bullies Morag "madness." He asserted that presenting the incident as workplace abuse is a distortion of their relationship.

Morag herself also addressed the controversy, responding with the same soccer metaphor Peleg used. She stated, "I turned from a bench player into an attacking player who plays 90 minutes," suggesting her own growth and contribution.

Peleg's statement aims to clarify that his comments were not a reprimand or a "broadcast hearing" and that the narrative of him bullying Morag is a misrepresentation.
