Eli Ohana Concerned by Beitar Jerusalem's Complete Collapse in Season Opener

Beitar Jerusalem is reeling after a devastating 4-1 loss to Maccabi Netanya in their first league match of the season. The team suffered a complete breakdown, failing to compete at any point during the game, according to former club star Eli Ohana.

"They were hit hard, and it really surprised me," Ohana stated on radio 103FM. "Losing is permissible in football, but we saw such a complete, total disintegration. Nothing was functioning; something isn't working there." He noted that the team's goalkeeper was their best player, and the score could have been much higher.

Following the match, coach Almog Cohen admitted the team did not show up from the start. "We tried to get into the game somehow, and we did a little in the second half and scored, but otherwise, it was very bad," Cohen said. He acknowledged making tactical changes, including substituting defenders at halftime, but attributed the loss to unforced errors and turnovers in critical areas.

Cohen expressed frustration, feeling unable to influence the players and that they were weighed down by unseen pressures. He apologized to the fans for the performance, praising their incredible support. "It hurts me a lot, it's very disappointing," he concluded.
