Police Rescue Monkey Illegally Held in Cage Near Ashkelon
Police in Israel have rescued a green guenon monkey that was being illegally kept in a cage at a private residence in the moshav (village) of Barchiya, near Ashkelon. The owner of the home, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of illegal trade and possession of a protected wild animal.
The monkey has been transferred to the Israeli Primate Sanctuary, where it will receive veterinary care and undergo medical examinations. The suspect was released under restrictive conditions following his interrogation.
